Call for Nominations for the Board of Directors
The Association of Registered Nurses of Manitoba is an organization that launched in January 2016 to be the professional voice of registered nurses, nurse practitioners, graduate nurses, nursing students and former registered nurses in Manitoba; to support and promote excellence in nursing practice, education, research, leadership and healthy public policy; and to advocate for registered nurses and the health of people living in Manitoba.
The Association will hold elections in fall 2018 for four seats on the board of directors and a president-elect. We are seeking dynamic, committed individuals interested in supporting their peers and furthering the profession of nursing, to put their name forward for nomination. If you have a knowledge and understanding of the needs and issues related to registered nursing practice in our complex and ever-changing healthcare system, this opportunity might be for you.
As a provincial organization, we hope to have broad representation from across the province and encourage nurses from rural and northern areas to put their names forward for nomination.
The Association is looking for four board directors. The board of directors is accountable for the Association’s performance in relation to its mission and strategic objectives and for the leadership of the Association. A position description detailing the primary duties and qualifications of board directors is available here. The Association mission, vision, values and strategic goals can be found here. Nominees for the board must be registered and in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba.
Note: A person in good standing is regarded as having complied with all the explicit obligations as a registered nurse, while not being subject to any form of sanction, suspension or disciplinary censure.
The president-elect will serve for one year in the role before assuming the two-year presidency in November 2018. During this one-year period, the president-elect will have the opportunity to become familiar with the Association and the issues it faces and addresses. The position descriptions detailing the primary duties and qualifications for both the president-elect and president positions can be found here.
Nominees for president-elect should have a minimum of ten years of professional work experience as a registered nurse, must be a member of the Association and registered and in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba.
A candidate with less than 10 years of registered nurse experience may also be considered given a suitable combination of nursing practice and other relevant professional experience.
Nominations will be open from August 23 to September 16, 2018.
