Association members focus on inclusivity
At the 2019 AGM, members approved changes to the Association bylaws, allowing the organization to advance with a focus on inclusivity.
The Association will now offer an Associate, non-voting, membership category allowing any healthcare professional to access member benefits and professional development opportunities. As part of membership, registered psychiatric nurses and licensed practical nurses will also be able to access membership to the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA), who opened their membership to the family of nursing (registered nurse, nurse practitioner, registered psychiatric nurse, licensed practical nurse) in June 2018.
Previously, the Association embraced diversity and ensured inclusivity by changing our applications to use non-binary language. Based on a welcome suggestion from a member at the AGM, the Association will embed non-binary language in the foundation of our organization by adapting our bylaws to use it as well.
